Each year we gather together to celebrate the museum and raise money for programs, operations, or renovations. We are happy to say that the renovations are complete and they look fabulous! THANK YOU!! This year we want to gather again. We want to have the best gala, and we want (need) to raise more money to keep our doors open. It's just going to be a bit different. Instead of costumes, you might be in your pjs. Instead of a fancy dinner at The Venue, you might have a small intimate dinner with friends, or maybe sit on the couch with a bowl of Ramen. What won't change? We will still have AMAZING auctions items to bid on. (Go check them out...seriously). We'll still have a good time during our program, and more importantly, we'll still be able to support the museum. WE WISH YOU WERE HERE...but since we can't be together in person, we're so glad you're here in spirit!

In a time when most Americans never ventured beyond their own shores, Martin + Osa Johnson brought home the sights---& later sounds---of faraway places that were as wild as they were beautiful. In their films & books, they introduced the public to exotic peoples & presented close-up encounters with epic creatures of lore & legend.
The images the Johnsons shined on silver screens across the nation electrified audiences. Each expedition contained heightened thrills & crossed yet another frontier of both exploration & cinematography.
At the museum dedicated to the Johnsons in Osa's hometown of Chanute, Kansas, we invite you to travel with Martin + Osa as we recall their adventures through their photographs & artifacts & personal memorabilia donated in honor of these two pioneering naturalists. Though many of the wildernesses explored by Martin + Osa have disappeared, through their lens you can still glimpse an untouched world & relive the age of exploration through their amazing adventures as you meet & learn the stories of the people who assisted them in creating an unprecedented visual history of Africa from Capetown to Cairo, Oceania & North Borneo.
